The operating system is Evolution X (though you can still access the original xbox dashboard. I replaced the 5 or 10gb drive with a 400gb hard drive. There is an led indicator under the shell to indicate which OS is running, (Blue=EvoX, Green=chip menu/microsoft dashboard. There are many skins for the EvoX dashboard already on there. The only App on the hard drive is DVD2XBOX, which is an application used to copy any disk to the hard drive to be used without the disc.
